As of July 1, 2012, deferred payments became a permanent part of the Grains Act. This allows you to sell your crops this year, and defer the payment (and the taxable income) into next year. In order to do this, there must be a written agreement between the elevator and the producer. The elevator does all of the paperwork. All you have to do is to let us know when you want the payment for your crop to be issued. To arrange this, either call Donna at 705-930-3488 or download a copy of the Deferred Payment Form, fill the information, sign and send to donna@maizeingacresinc.com. You can also bring this signed form in our Campbellford Office.
There are no storage charges or elevation fees on wheat contracted or sold by August 20, soybeans contracted or sold prior to Oct 25, or on corn contracted or sold prior to Nov 25. Once those dates arrive, producers need to decide if they want to sell any unsold crops, or if they want to put them into storage. Crops going into storage at that point will be subject to a one-time $6.00/tonne handling charge, and storage charges will begin to accumulate. Maizeing Acres Inc. charges $4.00/tonne/month to store all crops. It is charged on a daily basis, so you pay only for the days that your crops are actually in storage. Corn that is shipped out will have a $7 out charge if it is not purchased by MAI.
UPDATE: If you are taking grain out of the faculty, you are subject to a $13/tonne fee ($6 in and $7 out).
This policy helps protect the food supply chain and sustain market access. Please refer to this document for a more detailed information.
